About Me

My photo
Every day I pray and battle with my mission to start pleasing God and stop satisfying myself and appeasing others. Defeats in this battle have cost me a lot, where prayers, praise and God’s Word have brought some miraculous victories. It is not because my daddy is a preacher or because I was always in church, that I see God not as a casualty but a necessity. However, at 23 my experiences and understanding that IT MAY NOT BE EASY TO DO THE RIGHT THING BUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF DOING THE WRONG THINGS ARE TOO HARD TO DEAL WITH, have brought the Sunday school lessons, the sermons, and the prayers into perspective. Being perfect is unpractical but being young and saved is not! I've done a whole lot of something for nothing. But after meeting Jesus Christ I decided I would give anything to have Him as my Everything!

CRAVING CONTROL!!!

BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY:
For whatever a person succumbs to, to that they are enslaved.  - 2 Peter 2:19
– Whatever you can’t control, will control you!
It’s been a while since I’ve blogged, but I think the topic of self-control is worthy of more than the limited  FB characters…

So I don’t know about you, but the lack of self – control has and quite often still is an issue in my life. Currently, I feel a little ill trying to keep myself from feeding my craving and eat everything that isn’t included on my diet. In need of help and scared to open my mouth to even pray (because I might accidently drop some food in it), I googled “self-control + Bible verse” and 2 Peter 2:19 came up. Now I admit it hasn’t curb my appetite. However, after reading it, I’m lead to reflect on all the times I thought I was going to die if I didn’t eat, and how those times lead to me currently being on a diet.

(Just an FYI: I am not craving something merely to chew on after 6; I’m thinking of the food I had passed up when I was down in Atlanta last week. You know!...things that can’t make your heart stop…lol)

For you it may be simply a poor diet or a tendency to overeat at Thanksgiving, or to talking too much…OR something more severe like chain smoking, drunkenness, drug abuse, sexual sins (pornography and adultery), a quick temper, a pattern of exaggerating or lying, etc. Whatever it may be… WARNING! Don’t succumb to the impulses!!!

The lack of self - control can yield devastating results.

See, the areas were we lack self-control are our weak spots (can be due to passion, pleasure, pride). It is through these points that we are enticed to live a life that exist apart God. (S/N - I won’t go into depth about the consequences of living a life separate from God. But please remember sin is only temporarily appealing and enjoying.) See, there has been dinner invites that I have accepted ( b/c I just wanted to eat and be greedy), that served as an invite for other people/ things to come into my life.

The take home message is this: Whenever we give into intense desires of the flesh, we are attempting to handle life (find happiness, significance, security, etc.) by our own resources apart from God. Self – control is brought about through good judgment. Good judgment through seeking God! The Bible is full of insight and warnings. Utilize the greatest resource!

PRAISE GOD!  I'M NOT HUNGRY ANYMORE!!!
